Clevrr Capsule #008: The cheapest CPMs of the year are 3 weeks away
Plus why six edits of one video count as one ad, and the maths behind a real creative test.
Hey there,
You’re in the thick of it right now, so this one’s short. Three things, and the first is about what happens after.
1. The cheapest ad inventory of the year is three weeks after Diwali
Here’s what happens every year. Festive ends, everyone’s exhausted, budgets get cut, and accounts go quiet through December.
Which means the auction empties out exactly when your creative is most proven and your audiences are warmest.
In the US they call this Q5, the window from mid-December through January, and the pattern holds in India for the same reason: everyone stops bidding at once. US data shows Meta running around 28% cheaper in the last week of December. The shoppers don’t vanish either. Gift card redemptions, exchanges, self-gifting, and the whole new-year resolution category all land in that window.
The part that makes it nearly free: you already did the work. You know which creatives won, which audiences converted, which offers moved. Running proven assets into a cheap auction requires no new production.
The catch is that you have to decide now, not in January. Your creators, your licences, your offers all need to be lined up while you’re still mid-season.
Do this today: hold back 10 to 15% of what’s left of your festive budget for the second half of December. That’s the whole play.
→ Your pixel data from this week tells you which campaigns are genuinely creating demand versus just collecting it. That’s the list you re-run in December. See it on your account.
2. Six edits of one video is one signal. Six creators is six.
We’ve all watched the lever move. It used to be targeting, then it became creative, and most people are still sitting in that second era.
But here’s what actually changed. When the algorithm reads your creative to decide who sees it, what it’s reading is distinctness. Six cuts of the same video with different hooks read as one thing. Six different faces read as six.
Which is why ads running from a creator’s own handle outperform. Meta’s own numbers put Partnership Ads at roughly 19% lower CPA and 13% higher CTR than standard ads. Partly borrowed trust, since the ad arrives from someone the buyer already follows with the comments and history attached. Partly that every handle is one more distinct voice for the system to work with.
The question moved from “which audience do I build” to “which creative do I test” to “which creators do I book.”
Do this today: look at your current ad set. Count the actual distinct faces, not the number of ads.

3. The maths nobody does before committing to a season
Industry benchmarks put roughly 4 to 8% of creatives as genuine winners. Call it one winner for every 10 to 13 you test.
Work backwards. Three or four winners for a season means testing 30 to 50 variants. If you’re planning a December push on six assets, you’re not running a test, you’re placing a bet.
Fifty shoots is impossible. Fifty variants from a handful of shoots is not, which is the entire argument for briefing modularly: multiple hooks per creator rather than multiple takes, demo and B-roll footage, two or three CTAs, and the raw files so you can swap a hook the same day an ad fatigues instead of commissioning a reshoot.
And when something does fatigue mid-season, climb the ladder in order:
Hook swap first
then swap an element,
then recut from existing footage. Full reshoot is the last resort, not the first instinct.
Do this today: check whether you actually hold raw files from your last three creator shoots. Most brands don’t, and find out at the worst possible moment.
→ Scoring 50 variants by eye isn’t realistic for any team. Clevrr scores every live creative and groups them by what’s actually driving performance, so you know which winners to carry into December. Book 20 minutes and I’ll run it with you.
